Add product units, such as a box of 12
Every product has a base unit, such as Piece, that stock is counted in. Add other units to sell or buy it by the box, case or carton. On an order line, you then choose the unit, and the app converts the quantity to the base unit for stock.
For each unit you can set:
- A Factor: how many base units it holds for this product. Leave it empty to use the unit's usual factor, for example 12 for Box (12).
- A Price per unit: for example $50.00 for a box, instead of 12 × the piece price. Leave it empty to use the base price × the factor.
Who can do this: Anyone whose role can edit products, such as a Catalog manager.
Before you start: The unit exists. See Set up units of measure.
Step by step
Open the product and click its Units tab. The base unit is listed first.
Click Add unit.
Choose the Unit, for example Box (12).
Leave Factor empty to use the unit's usual factor, or enter this product's own, for example 24.
Enter the Price per unit, or leave it empty.

Click Save. The unit is listed with its factor and price.

To change or remove a unit, click ⋯ on its row. The base unit can't be changed or removed.
Having trouble?
- The unit you want isn't offered: it's inactive, it's the base unit, or it's already on the product.
- The box price on an order isn't what you set: the order's price book may have its own rule for this product or unit. Check it with the price check.
