Confirm an order with delivery
For an order with delivery, confirming doesn't take the goods out of stock yet. It reserves them at the order's shop, so they can't be sold to someone else. They leave stock only when a delivery is marked delivered. You can deliver everything at once, or in several parts.
Confirming also issues the invoice, so the customer can pay before or after the delivery.
Who can do this: Anyone whose role can edit orders, such as Sales staff.
Before you start: The order is a draft with at least one line, and With delivery is on. To turn it on, click Edit on the draft.
Step by step
When you create the order, turn on With delivery.

Add the lines, then click Confirm. The message says the stock will be reserved for delivery and an invoice issued.

Click Confirm. The order's status is Confirmed, and a second badge shows its delivery status: Pending.
Open the Deliveries tab. It's empty, with Create delivery.

Next, create a delivery.
The delivery status follows the deliveries:
| Delivery status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Pending | Nothing delivered yet |
| Partially delivered | Some goods delivered, some still to go |
| Delivered | Everything delivered |
On the Lines tab, each line shows how much has been Delivered so far.
Having trouble?
- A message lists items that are short of stock: the shop doesn't have enough to reserve. Nothing changed and the order is still a draft.
- The customer wants fewer goods after you confirmed: a confirmed order can't change. If nothing has been delivered yet, void the invoice, cancel the order, and make a new one with the right quantities. See Cancel or delete an order. Goods already delivered can come back with a return.
